DECISIONS...REALTOR vs. FOR-SALE-BY-OWNER

I KNOW THIS IS SO PREDICTABLE - BUT...

A recent study by Collateral Analytics in the 3rd quarter of 2018 found that For Sale By Owner properties tend to sell for an average of 6% LESS than comparable homes represented by a licensed real estate agent. The researchers concluded that, "...For Sale By Owner properties tend to sell for lower prices than comparable home sales - and in many cases below the average differential represented by the prevailing commission rate." I get it - you want to net as much as possible when selling your property, who wouldn't? That's the goal of a good real estate agent as well. Suggestion: before you decide to go the for sale by owner route, meet with a licensed realtor. Do yourself a solid and take the objectivity and guesswork out of the equation. Realtors will help back up your home's true market value with real time stats and data. At the very least it will be informative and will answer questions you maybe hadn't thought of.
